In November 2026, Kurasu will visit Melbourne, Australia.
At the heart of our trip is Coffee Weekend 2026, held at Queen Victoria Market. Before and after the event, we’ll also be joining cafes and roasters across Melbourne for pop-ups, bar takeovers, pairing events, and a panel talk.
What we want to bring with us on this trip is more than just coffee.
We want to share the hospitality we’ve cultivated in Kyoto, coffee as part of everyday life, and the connections we’ve made with people over the past 10 years. We hope to share what we’ve valued along the way directly with everyone in Melbourne.
Australia: A Place Deeply Connected to Our Roots
Australia holds a special place in Kurasu’s story.
Home to one of the world’s great coffee cultures, it is a place where roasters, baristas, and people who enjoy coffee naturally connect through everyday life. That open culture has had a significant influence on an idea Kurasu has always valued: bringing people together through coffee.
And in 2026, Kurasu celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Visiting Australia at this milestone isn’t simply about looking back. It’s a trip to share what Kurasu has grown into in Kyoto today, and to meet the people and communities with whom we can shape the next 10 years.
What We’ve Cultivated in Kyoto, in Melbourne
What Kurasu hopes to share is the care we bring to what we do every day, and coffee that finds a place in everyday life.
While caring deeply about the quality of every cup, we also want to share the stories behind our coffee and the things we think about in our day-to-day work. Whether you’re meeting Kurasu for the first time or have been supporting us for years, we hope you’ll get a sense of what it’s like to spend time with us at our cafes in Kyoto.
At the same time, we also hope to learn a great deal from the city of Melbourne.
We’ll exchange coffees and ideas with local roasters and baristas, and experience new perspectives and approaches to service. Bringing those experiences back to Kyoto and into our everyday work and future events is another important purpose of this trip.
Rather than seeing Coffee Weekend as the goal, we hope to make it the beginning of relationships that continue across countries and regions.

Maker Coffee holds a special place in our hearts, as it’s where Kurasu’s Takuya (Kuri-chan) once worked. Following our event with Maker at Kyoto Stand on October 11, this time we’ll be heading to Melbourne.
Through this collaboration travelling between Kyoto and Melbourne, we’re looking forward to serving coffee together once again.

We’ll be collaborating once again in Melbourne with Rika-san, who once made pastries for us at Kurasu.

We’re already excited to see what new form the flavours and connections that began in Kyoto will take in Melbourne.
